Nina Venus es pintora, vive y trabaja como artista y comisaria independiente en Hamburgo.
Completó sus estudios de pintura en 2000 en Boston (USA) con un máster en Bellas Artes, MFA, en la Universidad TUFTS y la Escuela del Museo de Bellas Artes.
Sus obras se han mostrado en numerosas exposiciones individuales y colectivas en galerías e instituciones independientes y están representadas en colecciones privadas.
En 2020, por ejemplo, expuso una obra del actual ciclo de trabajo, las pinturas de nubes, en la renombrada galería hamburguesa Melike Bilir. En 2023, la ciudad de Kiel encargó a Nina Venus un retrato del presidente saliente de la ciudad, Hans-Werner Tovar; este cuadro se inauguró ceremoniosamente y ahora cuelga en la llamada “Ahnengalerie” del Ayuntamiento de Kiel.
Además de su práctica artística independiente, Nina Venus trabaja como comisaria independiente y fue responsable de la OFF TRIENNALE para el Deichtorhallen Hamburg como directora en 2018, comisarió „hello.again“ para la Kunsthalle Lüneburg como parte de la retrospectiva del fotógrafo Volker Hinz en 2022 y comisarió la exposición integral „Art on the Dancefloor“ para el International Fotofestiwal Lødz, Polonia en 2023.
Nina Venus también impartió clases como conferenciante y profesora visitante en la Academia Muthesius de Bellas Artes y Diseño de Kiel entre 2015 y 2022.
“Pintar el cielo y las nubes es como capturar la luz y el aire con las manos o intentar captar un momento fugaz… En realidad es imposible y, sin embargo, siempre merece la pena intentarlo. Nina Venus is a painter; she lives and works as an artist and independent curator in Hamburg.
She completed her painting studies in 2000 in Boston (USA) with a Master of Fine Arts, MFA, at TUFTS University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts.
Her works have been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in independent galleries and institutions and are represented in private collections. In 2020, for example, she exhibited work from her current body of work, the cloud paintings, at renowned Hamburg gallery Melike Bilir. In 2023, the city of Kiel commissioned Nina Venus to paint a portrait of outgoing city president Hans-Werner Tovar; this painting was ceremoniously unveiled and now hangs in the historic so-called „Ahnengalerie“ of the Kiel City Hall.

„Painting the sky and the clouds is like trying to capture light and air with your bare hands or trying to capture a fleeting moment… It is impossible, and yet it is always worth trying. What is essential in my painting is the approach to this permanent change and to the fleetingness of the present, the memory of a moment that has just been and immediately announces a new one, a next one. Yet, the time is always now, and only now. For me, painting is like traveling, like being in transit.”
